What Size Event/Party Tent?

Having lots of options is usually a good thing. And with party tents coming in so many different styles, colors, shapes, and sizes, a large volume of options can be overwhelming.

A General Rule is ten square feet per person in a seating-only layout. Adding items like a buffet, dance floor, and social areas (cocktail tables, etc.) might increase or decrease the space required. For example, to seat 180 guests, you would want to use a 30x60’ tent. This makes for 1,800 square feet (30’ x 60’), which is generally ideal for 180 guests (180 x 10 sq. ft.).

Seating comfort/density should also be included in the tent size calculation. Another General Rule is 100 square feet for the standard 60” Round Table. A 60” Round Table will accommodate up to 10 chairs. Continuing the example above, a 30x60’ tent with 18 – 60” Round Tables will seat 180 guests. Formal events should estimate no more than eight (8) guests at a 60” Round Table to allow for formal table place settings, drinkware, and elbow room.
